Indian benchmarks continued to trade in negative terrain lower by 400 points during the late morning deals amid weak global cues. Broader markets, too, fell. Nifty MidCap 100 index dropped 0.21 per cent, while Nifty SmallCap 100 index tanked 0.37 per cent.
On the corporate front, shares of Rites rose over 7 per cent on Friday after it received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Talis Logistics, South Africa. While Natco Pharma down nearly 4 per cent was the top loser among the Nifty Pharma pack.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Aeronautics advanced 1.4 percent after the government signed a deal with the company for supply of 97 fighter jets to the Indian Air Force.
At 11:18 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80754.25 down by -405.43 points or by -0.5 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24771.2 down by -119.65 points or by -0.48 %.
In the volatile trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 81033.09 and intraday low of 80708.34 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24868.6 and intraday low of 24759.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3760.00,+3.18%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 676.80,+1.89%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16380.15,+0.67%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1377.50,+0.37%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3390.35,+0.36%), among others.
Whereas Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1580.65,-2.91%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 719.75,-2.81%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 168.00,-2.50%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1417.00,-1.86%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2361.50,-1.72%), among others were the losers on the BSE.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4111 , shares advanced were 1116 while 2813 shares declined and 182 were unchanged.
