Indian benchmarks are expected to start the day on a negative note on Friday. Trends on GIFT Nifty indicate a flat to negative start for the broader index in India, with a loss of 19 points. Asia-Pacific markets opened in red on Friday after President Trump announced fresh tariffs on furniture, heavy trucks and pharmaceutical products.
Meanwhile, rupee closed nearly flat at 88.6650 against the U.S. dollar due to likely central bank intervention amid continued foreign outflows.
In the commodities market, Oil edged higher and was on track for its biggest weekly gain in 3 months as Ukraine's attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure pushed Moscow to cut fuel exports until the end of the year.
On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 81159.68 down by -555.95 points or by -0.68 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24890.85 down by -166.05 points or by -0.66 %.
On the global front, U.S. stocks fell for a third straight session overnight as hopes for aggressive Fed rate cuts faded and concerns prevailed about the outlook for the artificial intelligence trade.
