Indian equities extend losses for fifth session; Realty and IT stocks weigh

The benchmark Indian equity indices fell for the fifth consecutive session on Thursday, weighed down by sustained selling in realty and information technology (IT) stocks.

At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81415.45 down by -300.18 points or by -0.37 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24957.15 down by -99.75 points or by -0.4 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 81840.73 and intraday low of 81302.59 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25092.7 and intraday low of 24949.05

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1171.05,+1.06%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1945.95,+0.82%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16307.80,+0.38%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 952.70,+0.23%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1630.10,+0.20%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 664.65,-2.65%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 285.95,-2.51%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2965.95,-2.31%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2404.10,-2.19%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1420.00,-1.55%), among others.
