Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are set for a weak opening on September 25, tracking cues from GIFT Nifty, which hovered around 25,061 in early trade.

Sentiment remains under pressure as concerns over US H-1B visa rules persist, while sustained foreign fund outflows continue to weigh on markets.

On September 24, the indices extended their losing streak to a fourth straight session, with the Nifty 50 slipping below 24,100 amid broad-based selling, barring the FMCG sector.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 81715.63 down by -386.47 points or by -0.47 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25056.9 down by -112.6 points or by -0.45 %.

On the global front, Asian markets witnessed a mixed start on Thursday, as investors reacted to continued sell-offs in major tech stocks on Wall Street, including Nvidia and Oracle, for the second day in a row. Last checked, Japan's Nikkei 225 index was down around 0.1 per cent and South Korea's KOSPI Index was down 0.25 per cent.

US stocks ended lower for the second consecutive session on Wednesday, as investors took profits with major indexes hovering near record highs. The decline followed comments from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, who pointed to possibly overvalued stock prices, and came ahead of an upcoming inflation report later in the week. Overnight, the Nasdaq Composite index fell 0.33 per cent, S&P 500 ended 0.28 per cent down, and Dow Jones fell around 0.37 per cent.
