Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are expected to open flat with a slight negative bias on Tuesday, tracking GIFT Nifty, which hovered near 25,274.
Sentiment remains cautious following US President Donald Trump’s new H-1B visa fee rule. Investors will also keep an eye on Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal’s US visit for trade negotiations — the first since the Trump administration imposed 50% tariffs.
On Monday, markets extended their losing streak, with the Nifty 50 slipping below 25,200 intraday amid selling pressure in IT, financial and pharma shares.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 82159.97 down by -466.26 points or by -0.56 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25202.35 down by -124.7 points or by -0.49 %.
On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets were trading higher on Tuesday, following a tech-driven rally on Wall Street. Last checked, Japan's Nikkei 225 index was up 1 per cent, and South Korea's KOSPI index rose 0.4 per cent.
US equity markets settled higher after Nvidia said it will invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI. Overnight, the Nasdaq Composite index rose 0.7 per cent, S&P 500 ended 0.44 per cent down, and Dow Jones gained 0.14 per cent.
