Benchmark stock indices Sensex and Nifty closed higher on Wednesday driven by heavy buying in infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 81481.86 up by 143.91 points or by 0.18 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24855.05 up by 33.95 points or by 0.14 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 81618.96 and intraday low of 81187.06 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24902.3 and intraday low of 24771.95

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3665.15,+4.87%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1734.95,+1.41%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 338.65,+1.26%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12622.35,+1.19%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1934.75,+0.87%), among others.
