Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty slumped 1 per cent on Thursday, tracking a global market downturn amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 81691.98 down by -823.16 points or by -1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24888.2 down by -253.2 points or by -1.01 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 82661.04 and intraday low of 81523.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25196.2 and intraday low of 24825.9

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2027.00,+0.73%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2218.05,+0.43%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1644.00,+0.36%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 715.00,-2.89%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3451.55,-2.52%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 251.10,-2.28%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 288.80,-2.25%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 152.85,-2.24%), among others.
