The benchmark indices settle with mild gains on Tuesday as tensions between India and Pakistan threatened to spiral into open armed conflict. Global cues were mixed due to tariff-related worries and fears of an U.S. economic slowdown.

Overseas, Asian stocks ended mixed in muted trade on Tuesday, with Japanese markets closed for Showa Day holiday. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index edged up by 0.16 percent to 22,008.11 as tech stocks rallied on Alibaba's advanced Qwen 3 AI launch. Australian markets climbed to a two-month high on hopes for more favorable U.S. trade policies.

Meanwhile, Oil prices fell on Tuesday amid a weaker demand outlook. Benchmark Brent crude futures ell 1.6 percent to $63.75 a barrel in early European trade, while WTI crude futures were down 1.5 percent at $61.10. Gold resumed its downtrend on Tuesday after showing a significant move back to the upside in the previous session.

On the corporate front, Shares of Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC gained 7 per cent to ₹685.80 on the BSE in Tuesday’s intra-day trade. Paras Defense and Space Technologies soared 20 percent, Data Patterns (India) jumped nearly 15 percent and Bharat Electronics advanced 4 percent.

The 30-share benchmark index closed trading at 80288.38 up by 70.01 points or by 0.09 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24335.95 up by 7.45 points or by 0.03 %.

During the day’s trade, Sensex touched intraday high of 80661.31 and intraday low of 80122.02 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24457.65 and intraday low of 24290.75.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1400.30,+2.32%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1493.00,+2.14%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 231.15,+1.72%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1571.40,+1.42%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1497.40,+1.03%), among others.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1804.80,-2.01%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11866.95,-1.99%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 303.25,-1.75%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 356.80,-1.22%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2205.35,-0.93%), among others were the losers.

Among sectors, IT index was at 35243.27 up by 392.6 points or by 1.13%. Intellect Design Arena Ltd. (Rs. 793.05,+4.00%), Zensar Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 748.45,+3.83%), Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 375.90,+3.68%), AXISCADES Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 839.00,+3.57%), KPIT Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1264.65,+2.79%),.

While, HCS index was at 42211.9 down by -343.75 points or by -0.81%. Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd (Rs. 686.70,-3.45%), Hester Biosciences Ltd. (Rs. 1852.15,-3.33%), GPT Healthcare Ltd. (Rs. 156.00,-3.23%), Kopran Ltd. (Rs. 195.00,-3.08%), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 1209.70,-2.97%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4264 , shares advanced were 1964 while 2151 shares declined and 149 were unchanged.
