Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open flat on April 22, following cues from the GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 24,156.50 earlier this morning.

Both Nifty and Sensex extended their winning streak to a fifth consecutive session on Monday, driven by strong Q4 results from major lenders such as ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank. The ongoing rally was further supported by consistent foreign inflows, with FIIs remaining net buyers for the past three sessions.

On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 79408.5 up by 855.3 points or by 1.09 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24125.55 up by 273.9 points or by 1.15 %.

On the global front, Asian markets were subdued Tuesday, tracking Wall Street’s sell-off after U.S. President Donald Trump doubled down on his pressure campaign on Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.

Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 17997.40 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 361.58 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 13680.09 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 515.41 Crore.
