The Ministry of Labour & Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with quick-commerce platform Zepto to enhance employment opportunities and improve youth employability through the National Career Service (NCS) Portal. The MoU was signed in the presence of Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, in New Delhi.
Dr. Mandaviya highlighted that the NCS platform has evolved into a unique bridge between employers and job seekers, hosting over 52 lakh registered employers and mobilising nearly 7.5 crore vacancies since its inception. He noted that upcoming integration of Artificial Intelligence and advanced digital tools will further help job seekers discover opportunities tailored to their location and qualifications.
Welcoming the collaboration, Dr. Mandaviya said the partnership would open new avenues for youth employment while enabling Zepto to connect with a large and diverse talent pool. Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Ms. Vandana Gurnani, stressed that the MoU will drive formalisation and extend social security coverage, while reinforcing the NCS portal’s role as a one-stop platform for job-matching, career counselling and skilling.
Zepto’s Co-founder, Shri Kaivalya Vohra, described the partnership as a major step toward creating an inclusive and skilled workforce for the new-age economy. Under the MoU, Zepto will provide 10,000 job postings during the agreement period, creating a structured pipeline of urban employment opportunities for youth, women and first-time job seekers. The partnership will also link gig workers to e-Shram registration, social security schemes and upskilling initiatives.
The agreement marks another milestone in the Ministry’s mission to integrate platform economy opportunities into India’s formal employment ecosystem. Over the past year, the Ministry has signed MoUs with several major organisations including Amazon, Swiggy, Rapido and Quikr Jobs, which have together mobilised nearly five lakh vacancies on the NCS portal.
