Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) held its 53rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday at Chinmaya Mission, New Delhi. Addressing shareholders virtually, Chairman and Managing Director Shri Amarendu Prakash highlighted the company’s resilient performance amid global headwinds and outlined its strategic roadmap for future growth.
Prakash said SAIL remains a key partner in India’s development journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047, supplying steel to critical sectors including infrastructure, railways, defence and energy. Guided by the National Steel Policy 2017, the company plans to integrate green technologies, efficient logistics and customer-centric solutions into upcoming projects, he added.
Underlining SAIL’s focus on sustainability, Prakash detailed initiatives such as hydrogen-based steelmaking trials, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), biochar injection and renewable energy integration. “The world is at the cusp of a green transition and SAIL is determined to be at the forefront of this change,” he said.
To create a future-ready organisation, SAIL has launched two transformation programmes—PRAVARTANAM for digital transformation and SAIL DARPAN for HR transformation—aimed at building a resilient, self-sustaining ecosystem across its plants and mines.
Concluding his address, Prakash expressed confidence in SAIL’s ability to “emerge stronger and achieve greater heights” by combining resilience, capability and vision.
