The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved construction of the 82.4 km, four-lane greenfield access-controlled Mokama–Munger section of the Buxar–Bhagalpur High-Speed Corridor in Bihar under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) at an outlay of Rs 4,447.38 crore.
The corridor will link key regional hubs including Mokama, Barahiya, Lakhisarai, Jamalpur, and Munger to Bhagalpur, cutting travel time to about 1.5 hours while enabling faster, safer movement of passengers and freight.
Expected to generate over 33 lakh man-days of direct and indirect employment, the project will boost industrial growth in Eastern Bihar — especially in defence, textiles, food processing, and logistics — and stimulate economic activity across the region.
