The rupee appreciated by 6 paise to close at 85.67 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday, buoyed by optimism over a potential trade agreement with the US and a delay in implementing reciprocal tariffs.
However, gains were limited due to a firm US dollar in global markets and crude oil prices hovering near USD 70 per barrel, according to forex traders.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened weaker at 85.84 and moved between 85.93 and 85.65 during the session, before settling at 85.67, 6 paise higher than its previous close.
