The Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in collaboration with Shell India, has launched a nationwide Electric Vehicle (EV) and green skills training program to equip students and trainers with future-ready capabilities in e-mobility and sustainable energy.

Implemented by the Edunet Foundation, the initiative covers Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) in Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The first phase features a 240-hour advanced EV technician course at four NSTIs, a 90-hour job-oriented course at 12 ITIs, and a 50-hour foundational green skills module for additional ITIs without physical labs.

The curriculum, developed jointly by Shell, Edunet, and DGT, includes EV systems, battery technology, diagnostics, digital tools, and safety protocols. Over 250 trainers will undergo upskilling, and participants will receive co-branded certification with structured placement support.

Specialised EV labs will offer hands-on training aligned with industry standards, further enhancing employability and supporting India’s green transition. This initiative complements national and state-level EV and sustainability policies, fostering green jobs and building a skilled workforce for a net-zero future.
