The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to drive innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship within India's clean energy and manufacturing sectors.
This two-year collaboration, with an option to extend, aims to support early-stage climate-tech startups by providing access to funding, mentorship, pilot opportunities, and market linkages. The initiative is designed to create a robust pipeline of scalable, investment-ready ventures aligned with India’s net-zero goals.
Under the MoU, GEAPP will launch the Energy Transitions Innovation Challenge (ENTICE)—a competitive platform offering up to $500,000 in prizes for impactful clean energy solutions. Investment support will be facilitated through ecosystem partners such as Spectrum Impact and Avana Capital. DPIIT will integrate the initiative with the Startup India network and promote it through key government programs.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary at DPIIT, emphasized that India’s leadership in climate action relies on a strong foundation of entrepreneurship. He stated that the partnership would open new avenues for clean energy startups to scale innovative technologies contributing to India's long-term net-zero targets.
Saurabh Kumar, Vice President – India at GEAPP, called the MoU a strategic step toward systemic transformation through collaboration between government, industry, and innovators. He noted that GEAPP’s global expertise, combined with Startup India’s reach and DPIIT’s institutional backing, would create new pathways for clean energy entrepreneurship.
The MoU was formally signed by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal and Saurabh Kumar in the presence of senior representatives from both organizations.
