Hon’ble Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, is on an official visit to Brazil to participate in the BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled for May 19. The high-level meeting will be held under the theme “Empowering Global South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Global Governance.”
During the meeting, Shri Manohar Lal will engage in discussions with his counterparts from BRICS nations, focusing on key global energy issues such as energy security, accessibility, affordability, and sustainability.
India is expected to highlight its significant progress in the energy sector over the past decade, including a 90% increase in power generation capacity and advancements in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and biofuels. The country will also present its efforts in driving innovation and promoting sustainable development.
Additionally, India will reaffirm its commitment to ensuring equitable energy access and fast-tracking the energy transition in line with global climate goals.
This visit marks a continued effort by India to deepen collaboration with BRICS partners in shaping a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable global energy future.
