The Indian rupee weakened by 19 paise to 87.37 against the US dollar in early trade on Friday, impacted by the strength of the American currency and a downturn in domestic equities, which dampened investor sentiment.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 87.32 before slipping to 87.37 against the US dollar, marking a 19-paise decline from its previous closing level.
